Sampark Kranti

The Sampark Kranti Express is an initiative taken by Indian Railways to increase connectivity with nation’s capital, Delhi. It is a group of superfast trains that ensure all cities are connected to Delhi.

Sampark Kranti Express was introduced during the Railway Budget of 2004-2005 by the then Railway Minister, Nitish Kumar. The ticket fares on this train are equal to the other superfast and regular trains are operated by Indian Railways. There are no additional or special facilities that are available on the Sampark Kranti Express. When the train was launched, it was all set to run for a non-stop journey and would stop only at the destination. However, this idea was scrapped in a short while and it began to stop in all major commercial stops outside the state. True to their superfast character, these trains aim to reduce the journey time without causing any discomfort to the passengers. 18 trains were launched in the earlier stages and as days went by more trains were introduced. The first Sampark Kranti express ran from Delhi Hazrat Nizammudin to Bangalore on 8th February 2008.
